Our group met at the Christian Science Reading Room to discuss the vetting process we will use in our help, how to increase our membership, and a general discussion of how to proceed with our mission.
Our speaker, Jeannie Mansill, helped all of us see the necessity for Need It Now Funds in her role as CEO of Project Unity. The heights the organization goes is just nearly miraculous! Their goal is to help the children by helping parents with a broad array of necessary services to keep families together and get them the help they need to stabilize themselves to move forward in life. This could be as simple as getting proper ID's, GED, housing, job training, transportation and on and on. An incredible resource in our community that can use everything we have to offer.
It may be a gas card to get to a job interview, work boots to qualify for a certain position etc. Jeannie's passion and love for her fellow man make her the perfect person to help members of our community. She sighted examples of help provided resulting in families able to restore their dignity, and get back on track. Not every story has a happy ending, but her devotion to her job makes a huge difference in their lives.
We look forward to partnering with Project Unity in the future. There is a fundraiser today; go to www.brazosvalleygives.org/projectunity.
